Overview or summary
We provide fractional leadership expertise to tech startups and related supporting entities like investment funds in Sub-Saharan Africa. Our key services include raising capital for startups, providing strategic advisory, new product development and enterprise sales support. Although we are new (started in early 2023), we have seen enormous growth and strong interest in our services.
To continue our growth, we are seeking this motivated and results-driven BDR role as one of our first key hires to work closely with the Managing Partner to create sales opportunities, educate prospects about our services, and facilitate the closing of deals.
Although we intend to start with a trial project, we are looking for a BDR that is seeking an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience in management consulting, contribute to high-impact projects, and build your career in a dynamic and challenging environment for the long-term.
Responsibilities
Prospecting and Outreach:
Identify and target potential tech startup clients, technical assistance facilities and market-intervention oriented non-profits in Africa through market research, industry events, and online platforms.
Execute outbound lead generation campaigns to establish initial contact with potential clients.
Client Engagement:
Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders in tech startups, technical assistance facilities and market-intervention-oriented non-profits, understanding their business needs and challenges.
Schedule and conduct introductory calls, virtual meetings, and presentations to articulate the value proposition of our consultancy services
Use LinkedIn, CRM, sales enablement tools, and sales intelligence to improve processes
Handover qualified leads to the Managing Partner and Account Executives for deal closing
Pipeline Management:
Manage and maintain a robust sales pipeline using our CRM (Pipedrive)
Track and report on sales activities, opportunities, and client interactions.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the leadership team to align strategies, share insights, and optimize outreach efforts.
Collaborate with the leadership team to understand service offerings and effectively communicate them to potential clients.
Market Intelligence:
Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and market developments within the tech startup ecosystem in Africa.
Provide valuable insights to the team for refining our services and strategies.
Qualifications
1+ years in a similar business or sales development representative role (BDR, SDR) targeting B2B clients ideally in Africa
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
Proven experience in a business development or sales role, preferably within the tech industry
Knowledge of the African tech startup ecosystem is a strong advantage
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Native fluency in English language is required, fluency in French is optional
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently
Familiarity with CRM tools and sales software

Our fully remote team manages our work and communicates within our project management solution (ClickUp) with frequent check-ins to ensure that you will have as much support to execute your work while giving you the flexibility to work based on your schedule.
You will report directly to the Head of Operations with frequent communication with the founder.
